Nominate Your Program for an It Takes a Hospital Feature
North Carolina’s hospitals are changing lives across our state — and your work deserves to be recognized. NCHA invites members to submit standout programs or initiatives for a potential feature on this It Takes a Hospital storytelling platform, NCHealthcare.org.
Stories can be adapted from existing hospital materials or created in collaboration with NCHA. Often, these stories are later featured in NCHA’s annual Community Benefit Report.
Programs We Highlight
We highlight member initiatives across the following categories:
- Research and Innovation: Programs that transform healthcare delivery through new technologies, emerging practices, or breakthrough research.
- Community Benefit: Initiatives that extend beyond the walls of your organization to improve population health, address disparities, and strengthen the well-being of local communities.
- Access to Care: Programs that increase healthcare access, geographically, financially, or culturally, ensuring community members get the care they need, when and where they need it.
- Workforce and Education: Initiatives that support, train, develop, or sustain the healthcare workforce, including partnerships with schools, upskilling programs, and innovative staffing models.
- Rural Health: Programs specifically designed to support rural patients, providers, or communities, strengthening the sustainability and reach of rural healthcare. Efforts that advance safety, improve outcomes, enhance patient experience, or streamline care processes.
- Navigating Healthcare: Programs and services that help patients and families successfully navigate the healthcare system, access resources, understand care options, and overcome barriers to care, whether through care coordination, patient advocacy, community support, digital tools, or education.

What Happens Next
If your program is selected for a feature, NCHA’s communications team will work with you to identify:
- Up to two individuals from your organization to interview
- Opportunities to capture video of your program in action, if applicable
- Any existing photos, videos, or written materials that can support the story
NCHA will produce a concise write-up and a short video that highlights the impact of your program. Your hospital’s public relations or media relations team will have an opportunity to review before publishing.
